On the Arete - Face Pitch

This is the Face pitch on the bottom third of the climb.  It is a bit steep but holds everywhere.  I managed to drop a carbiner full of nuts while I was traversing left from this position. Definitely a bonehead move but we didn't need the gear for the route anyway. We always take too much gear even though it is significantly less than the normal climbing rack.

The route then goes up and right from here.  This pitch was short since it ends at a block that creates lots of rope drag.  You can see the Chimney up and right on the skyline. The route follows the arete to the skyline.

On the arete you can see Mt. Muir in the distance and the north face of Mt. Whitney in the foreground.
